Looking for a Job
We help people who are looking for a job.
We know finding a job is hard, especially if you’ve been unemployed for over 12 months or face significant challenges in your daily life. The Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre offers two free employment services to Workforce Australia clients to help you retrain, build your skills, apply for jobs, prepare for interviews and connect you to employers.
Our services are free and voluntary.
We have trained Advisors who can help all types of job seekers; young people, older people and those born in another country. We work with organisations to advocate for the best outcomes for job seekers, whether that be with employers for work experience opportunities or employment, or with training organisations to get information on the course you are interested in, we are here for you.

Take the first Step Into Employment
To ensure job seekers meet the various eligibility criteria for our programs we offer a one day pre-accredited training course. During the day participants assess their work readiness, develop their resumes and have their further support and training needs assessed.
Register for an upcoming Step Into Employment session here to get started. Note: completing the Step Into Employment session does not automatically entitle you to access additional support. Each request will be considered against the eligibility criteria before a client is referred for support.
Local Jobs. Local people.
Mentoring Mature Age Women into Jobs supports mature‑age job seekers, particularly women from culturally diverse backgrounds, to build work readiness, confidence and develop the skills needed for roles in the health care, social assistance and manufacturing sectors.
The project is aligned to the workforce needs of our region, helping jobseekers move into work while supporting local employers. Find out more about this project here.

We know how hard it can be to return to work when you have little ones to care for. If you have plans to go back to work in the next 12 months and want help to look at how to do this, then we have a supported playgroup just for you.
Join the Family Learning Playgroup where you can bring your preschool aged children to play and learn, whilst talking with our employment advisors to develop a return to work plan. You will also have the opportunity to investigate free and low cost training options and determine how you will retunr to work.
