International Women's Day is a global celebration held on the 8th March each year, recognising women’s contributions and achievements.
When the 8th of March falls on a weekend, the Centre marks International Women’s Day on the Friday before. Since 2025, these celebrations have been incorporated into the regular Friday morning teas and lunches, ensuring the occasion is always recognised within the community.

Over the years we have celebrated International Women’s Day by inviting local women from all walks of life to share their stories during special events, such as morning teas, afternoon teas, or lunches. These gatherings foster a supportive environment where women can connect, reflect, and be acknowledged for their journeys.
Although each woman’s background and experiences are unique, they are united by their strength, resilience, and determination to rebuild their lives with their families in Ballarat, often overcoming significant adversity. Their stories highlight not only the challenges they have faced but also the hope and perseverance that drives them forward.
Each year, the Centre draws inspiration from these remarkable women—their stories, their journeys, and the obstacles they have overcome, whether travelling from overseas countries or moving from just around the corner. Their courage and achievements serve as a beacon for others in the community.
